WISCONSIN RAPIDS –United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties and the Healthy Community Coalition are teaming up to fight hunger!

Community members are invited to donate non-perishable food items during the 14th annual United We Can food sculpture event, set for June 11th during Lunch by the River at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Wisconsin Rapids.

Through United We Can, local teams will build sculptures using canned food and basic needs items before Lunch by the River. These items will then be donated to local food programs. Since 2013, “United We Can” collected more than 84,000 pounds of food.

It’s not too late to help

  • Grab lunch and drop off non-perishable food or cash donations from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on June 11th at Lunch by the River. Checks should be made payable to “United Way.”
  • Vote for your favorite food sculpture to win the coveted “Community Choice” award. Voting will take place on our Facebook page @uwswac.

In 2025, United Way’s 211 Information and Referral line received 769 calls for assistance in acquiring food.  Healthy Community Coalition partners connected individuals to food resources nearly 59,000 times. The need is local, and it is real.
