WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI – This year’s United We Can food sculpture competition brought in over 5,750 pounds of food donations and $443.23 to support local food programs. Since 2013, this annual event has leveraged a total of 84,593 pounds of food to help community members facing hunger. All donations went directly to four local food programs: FOCUS Family Backpacks, FOCUS Food Pantry, FOCUS Neighborhood Meals, and Wisconsin Rapids Family Center.

United We Can is possible thanks to the volunteers who built sculptures, collected donations, helped before the game, during the game, and to distribute the thousands of pounds of food to local programs. Nine teams competed in this year’s event. The Major League (500+ food items) consisted of Domtar, ERCO Worldwide, Paper City Savings Bank, and Solarus. The Minor League (up to 500 food items) consisted of Boys & Girls Club of the Wisconsin Rapids Area, Connexus, ODC, Inc., Quality Plus Printing, and Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools-Food Service.

Winners of this year’s competition are:

  • Most Nutritious – Solarus
  • Most Creative – Paper City Savings Bank
  • Community Choice, Major League – Domtar
  • Community Choice, Minor League – Connexus
