Did you know… many adults working in our community are not making enough to thrive? In fact they barely get by and are one emergency away from serious financial hardship.  That is why United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties has partnered with United Way of Wisconsin and other United Ways across the state to provide the 2018 ALICE Report.  ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained Employed.  It is a way of defining our families...

Governor Scott Walker has designated the months of September and October 2018 as United Way Months in Wisconsin, in recognition of the launch of United Way annual campaigns throughout the state. The 40 United Ways across Wisconsin each work within their local communities to meet local needs, using funds raised locally. Together, United Ways fight for the Education, Financial Stability, Health and Safety Net Services of every person in every...

When you run a Volunteer Center, the biggest compliment you can get is when one of the volunteers you placed gets nominated by an agency!  In 2014, Becky Worden heard about the Volunteer Center at a Wellness Fair; she looked at our website and then called us to find out the next steps.  “I first started looking for volunteer opportunities because when I moved here from Janesville, I didn’t know a lot of people,” said Becky.  “Volunteering is...

The 2018 Stuff the Bus collection in Adams County was able to give backpacks filled with school supplies to 321 local students, thanks to the generosity of the entire community!  The Stuff the Bus Committee would like to thank all the local businesses and organizations who held school supply drives, the volunteers who helped with the collection and distribution events, everyone who donated school supplies and/or cash, and Kobussen Buses, Ltd...
